On Monday afternoons, Born Wild Community provides outdoor, all-weather After School Forest Skills sessions with enriching experiences for children in the care of experienced facilitators and overseen by a trauma-informed, inclusive practice teacher and ecologist.
This is a supported drop off program (ages 5+ can be dropped off without a supervising adult) focused on nature connection, play and exploration. Every session can look completely different, dependent on the interests of the child. Your child will develop essential life skills including creativity, problem-solving, team work, confidence and emotional regulation. Siblings aged 0-4 are welcome to tag along for free with a supervising adult.
After School Forest Skills is open to primary school, flexi-schooled and home schooled children.
We ask for a full term commitment for this offering. We’ve noticed it takes time to build up a connection with the community of young people and a unique environment such as ours.
If a session does not fill or we have known absences, we may open up casual spots. Keep a look out on the day prior to the After School Forest Skills for this option. If you secure a casual spot and then decide to book for the term, get in touch to receive a refund on the difference between the casual and term ticket rate.
TERM PAYMENT is our preferred commitment. Research shows that consistent participation in nature-based programs fosters deeper connections, greater developmental benefits, and stronger community bonds. If you have unique needs and can only commit to fortnightly or half term, please get in touch. We also can offer payment plans on request.
SUPPORT NEEDS To attend without a parent/guardian, children need to be independent, including toileting and the ability to follow direction from facilitators. If your child requires support at School, Kindergarten or other drop off programs, they may need support at Born Wild Community. We will work with you to establish what is needed to promote inclusion for your child.
MULTI AGE GROUPS Our program targets children aged 5–14, with research consistently showing that younger children thrive by observing and learning from older peers, while older children build leadership and empathy skills. This approach fosters a rich, inclusive setting that supports a wide range of developmental needs.
NOT FOR PROFIT Born Wild Community is a not for profit charity, meaning all payments we receive are put back into improving our programs. We are required to meet minimum numbers and self support our programs. In the event a program does not meet minimum numbers, transfer to alternate days, or a full refund of the registration fee will be offered.
If you are NOT SURE if Born Wild Community is right for your young person, please contact us and we can provide additional information and options info@bornwildcommunity.org.au Please note the program does not have administration each day.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds if you cannot attend, however get in touch and we can offer a credit to be used in the current or subsequent term at any of our Born Wild Community sessions.
